Yarmonov Igor Petrovich - Deserved Master of Sports of Ukraine



Yarmonov Igor Petrovich as a chess nugget is the man who overcame all adversity and thanks to hard work, great willpower and phenomenal abilities he reached the highest levels of Chess Olympus.

Igor Yarmonov (15.10.1967 dob) for over one and a half decade is the leader of the chess competitions among people with physical disabilities in Ukraine and in the world.

Since 2002, Igor Yarmonov has been a participant in the IPCA World Chess Championship (among people with physical disabilities) and always reaches top places: in 2002, 2013, 2016 and 2018 he became the IPCA World Champion. In 2006, 2008, 2012 and 2014 he was the IPCA World Vice-champion. At the 18th IPCA World Individual Chess Championship in Czech Republic, Igor Yarmonov achieved for the fourth time the title of the IPCA World Chess Champion.

In 2002, the physically disabled chess players from the IPCA had a possibility to participate in the FIDE World Chess Olympiad as a separate team. Since that time, Igor Yarmonov has been a member of the international IPCA team. He participated in the World Chess Olympiads: Bled 2002 in Slovenia, Turin 2006 in Italy, Dresden 2008 in Germany, Khanty-Mansiysk 2010 in Russia, Istanbul 2012 in Turkey, Tromsø 2014 in Norway, Baku 2016 Azerbaijan and Batumi 2018 in Georgia.

At the most prestigious chess competitions of our planet, Igor Yarmonov played 73 games in which there were more victories than losses.

Igor Yarmonov is an outstanding chess composer. He has about 250 chess publications in the world-famous chess editions of Germany, England, Russia, Sweden, Switzerland, Finland, Austria, Bulgaria, Holland, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Romania, Hungary and Israel. His works were included in such collections as the Album "Chess Composition of Ukraine" for 1986-1990, 1991-1995, 1996-2000; FIDE Albums for 1998-2000, 2001-2003, 2004-2006, 2010-2012, 2013-2015.

In 2011, Igor Yarmonov was awarded the title of FIDE Master in Chess Composition.

Igor Yarmonov has been the chess player and instructor in the Regional Center of Physical Culture and Sports for the disabled chess players since January 2003. He awarded the title of the International Master in chess game in 2002.

He is also a member of the commission on chess among persons with disabilities of the Chess Federation of Ukraine. He was awarded the Diploma of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine with the presentation of a memorial sign in December 2002.

In 2018, at the World Chess Olympiad in Batumi (Georgia), Igor Yarmonov was named the best player by the television journalists who covered the events of this Olympiad. In 2019 he became for the 10th time, the Champion of Ukraine among people with physical disability.

In 2019, Igor Yarmonov became a member of the Ukrainian national chess team (among people with physical disability) and was called to the Ukrainian national team of chess composition (among healthy chess players). A chess etude of Igor Yarmonov was included in the FIDE Album 2016-2018.
